MIRPURKHAS, July 10: Disruption in the power supply to some parts of Lower Sindh continues causing hardships to the people.

The power supply was suspended from the Hala grid station, Hyderabad, through a 132 KV high tension line for Mirpurkhas and Tharparkar districts at 10am.

The disruption affected the water supply to many towns of the two districts and business activities were also affected.

Emergency operations at government and private hospitals came to a standstill during the power failure.

The power supply was finally restored at 3pm.

On Tuesday, the power supply to the above-mentioned districts remained suspended for four hours during the day as a result of which Mirpurkhas, Mirwah, Digri, Juddo, Samaro, Sufi, Kot Ghulam Mohammed, Naokot, Mithi, Chhachhro, Diplo, Islamkot, Pihtoro, and Dhoro Naro were affected.

The president, Mirpurkhas Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Khan Abdul Khaliq Khan, and its vice president, Abdul Majeed Shaikh, condemned the Hesco for the daily disruption in the power supply to the two districts.

They said that Hesco authorities were covering their line losses by disconnecting the power supply for hours on end.

They demanded the chairman, Wapda, to take strict notice of the frequent power disruptions and ensure regular power supply to the people.
