DERA ISMAIL KHAN, July 10: The budget of Dera Ismail Khan district council for 2002-2003 was presented with an opening balance of Rs 62.8 million here on Wednesday. The budget was presented by District Nazim Latifullah Khan Alizai.
The total income for the year has been estimated at Rs 1317.466 million, including Rs 1163.666 million as grant from the provincial government and Rs 94.177 million from the local sources. The expenditure is estimated at Rs 1311.566 million.
In his budget speech, the District Nazim said judicious distribution of funds among all the union councils was top priority.
About development schemes, he said Dera Ismail Khan was among the first districts of the province where work on all development schemes under the Khushhal Pakistan Programme had been completed. No development funds lapsed at any stage in the just ended financial year, he said.
Regarding the future development schemes, he said the federal government had promised to provide Sui gas to the district by the end of current year. He said the work on a parallel 132kw power transmission line from the Chashma Hydel Power Plant to Dera Ismail Khan was in full swing, hoping it would be completed by October.
Latifullah said the total expenditure during the year was estimated at Rs 1311.566 million, which included Rs 367.145 million as development expenditure and Rs 877.593 million were calculated as non-development expenditure. He said an amount of Rs 66.828 million were to be paid as liabilities against the district government.
