KRL beat PIA in PFF Cup

LAHORE, Nov 2: KRL struggled to beat PIA 2-1 in the President PFF Cup football tournament at Ding Stadium, Bahawalpur as the competition entered the super league stage, according to a message received here Friday.

The super league will begin from Saturday in which national champions Wapda will meet Railways and KPT lock horns with PTCL.

For the KRL, Hidayatullah scored the first goal in the 24th minute on a field attempt. Allah Nawaz doubled the lead scoring a field goal in the 30th minute.

PIA managed to score their solitary goal in the 38th minute through Rashid Ali. No goal could be scored in the second half.

Thirteen teams have entered the super league and divided into four groups from ‘G’ to ‘J’: The top and runners-up teams of each group will qualify for the quarterfinal.

Following are the groups:

Group G: Navy, Afghan Agency Chaman,

Group H: Army, KPT, PTCL, PIA.

Group I: ABL, HBL, KRL.

Group J: Railways, Wapda and KESC.

Saturday’s fixture: Wapda vs Railways at 1pm; KPT vs PTCL.
