SUKKUR, July 9: The Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro has hinted that more ministers can be inducted in his cabinet soon.

He was replying to questions of newsmen in Jacobabad where he came on a brief visit on Tuesday.

He said that the ministers were inducted in his cabinet after fulfilling the legal formulates.

He said that in the past caretaker ministers had taken part in elections.

On a question whether he would contest election from Sujawal, he smilingly said that press reporters were free to guess.

He said that the recent efforts for the development of Jacobabad city had nothing to do with his election campaign, as was alleged.

The governor visited the city civil hospital and held a brief meeting with the civil surgeon, Dr Manzoor Soomro.

Soomro, accompanied by a team of the United National Development Project from the UK also visited the grave of John Jacob.

GROWERS’ PROTEST: About 100 growers of the Noorwah area, after breaking the security cordon, staged a demonstration against water shortage in front of the civil hospital, Jacobabad, where the Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro had come on a brief visit.

Despite tight security and police cordon, the growers succeeded in reaching outside the hospital where they raised slogans against the irrigation officials of their areas.

They demanded of the governor to order an inquiry against the officials who were not releasing water into the Noorwah.

The protesters intercepted the governor and informed him about critical water shortage in the Noorwah.

The governor assured them that he would inquire from the concerned officials about the water shortage and added that water would be available in the waterway in 24 hours.

He also assured the growers that action would be initiated against those irrigation officials who were not paying heed to their complaints.

On these assurances the growers ended their protest.
