KCCA demands three teams

Published July 9, 2002

KARACHI, July 8: Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) has appealed to Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Lt Gen Tauqir Zia to restore the entry of its three teams in Quaid-i-Azam Trophy and National Under-19 Championship.

KCCA president Munir Hussain pleaded for the inclusion of the third team.

He said Tauqir had initially agreed to give entry to third team from Karachi in national tournaments last year. “But at the advise of PCB Secretariat, the matter was deferred for the 2002-2003 season.”.

Munir said Karachi was composed of 18 towns with population of over crores. Even Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) and Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) have divided the 18 towns of Karachi in five Zones and allowed participation of its five teams in National events.—APP
