7th Wage Board Award notified

ISLAMABAD, Nov 2: Minister for labour, manpower and overseas Pakistanis, Omar Asghar Khan, confirmed on Friday that the wage board award for the newspaper employees has been notified.

“The wage board award has been notified,” he said replying to a question at a press conference. He said the government was always ready to hold talks on its implementation with anybody and “we are also ready to talk to the owners of the newspapers on the other problems facing them.”

The minister said: “We also want the resolution of their (newspaper owners) problems so that implementation of the award should be affordable to them.”

He stressed the need for the establishment of a mechanism on the pattern of Workers and Employees Bilateral Council of Pakistan (Webcop) for the resolution of mutual and outstanding problems between employees and owners of the newspapers .—APP
