SWABI, July 7: A causeway, completed at a cost of Rs3 million three days back, was washed away by the Saleem Khan Badri Nullah water on Saturday.

The residents have appealed to the NWFP governor to set up a committee to inquire into the substandard construction and wastage of public money.

The Saleem Khan Palodhand causeway, constructed under the Khushal Pakistan Programme, was completed in two phases.

The district Nazim, Sher Zaman Sher, along with the Saleem Khan union council Nazim, Muqarab Khan, had inspected the site a few days back and directed the contractor to accelerate work and complete the project before the onset of Moonsoon rains.

The locals appealed to the NWFP governor to order an inquiry into the poor construction work and award exemplary punishment to the officials responsible for wasting public money.
