RAWALPINDI, July 5: Pakistan would not be coerced or submit to any threats by India, said Major-General Rashid Qureshi, Director-General of Inter Services Public Relations, while reacting to baseless rhetorics of the Indian Army Chief Gen S. Padmanabhan, on Friday.

Gen Qureshi said that India had been giving self-serving and contradictory statements which was proved by the fact that only a few days ago the same Indian Chief had stated that there was no infiltration across the Line of Control.

“It must be clear to India that while Pakistan does not want war, it will defend offensively if war is thrust on Pakistan,” Gen Qureshi said.

Elaborating on the new Indian strategy, Gen Qureshi said that it was quite clear that India, hiding behind the fog created by it in the form of tension on the international border, Working Boundary and the Line of Control, was busy killing innocent Kashmiris in Indian occupied Kashmir and labelling them as infiltrators.

This was being done to keep international observers and community away from discovering the indigenous nature of the Kashmiri struggle, he said.

He further said that India’s other aims seemed to be to avoid international pressure for dialogue on Kashmir by projecting that great tension continued to exist on the border and that was why talks could not begin.

It was high time for the world community to ask India to allow a visit of independent observers, media and UN to occupied Kashmir to ascertain facts.

An impartial monitoring mechanism along the Line of Control could immediately be put in place by strengthening of UNMOGIP, Gen Qureshi concluded.—APP
