ISLAMABAD, July 5: Federal Law Minister Khalid Ranjha on Friday said that criminals involved in the gang-rape of a woman in Meerwala village, will be tried in an anti-terrorism court.

Talking to BBC television, he said: “The government will see to it that the persons involved in the gang-rape are tried in an anti-terrorism court.”

“The government will take it as an act of terrorism that entails death punishment.”

To a question, he said the country’s law did not recognise Panchayat like the one which ordered the gang-rape of the woman on June 22.

He said the Supreme Court had taken a suo motu notice and summoned every police officer in order to determine whether they were aware that the crime was about to occur.—APP
