KARACHI, July 4: The provincial health minister, Ahsan Ahmed, on Thursday, chaired a meeting to consider the selection of doctors for postgraduation.

Among others, the meeting was attended by the health secretary, Khalid Lateef Choudhry, additional secretary (technical), vice-chancellor, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Prof Jan Mohammed Memon and principals all the medical colleges.

It was decided that for the purpose of training, doctors with 15 years of service and 40 years of age would be selected.

The health minister said that this has been done so that the government could take maximum benefit from the experience of in- service doctors after they complete their training.

In this regard, Ahsan Ahmed directed that 100 per cent merit should be ensured as selection criteria.

The meeting also considered the list of doctors selected from Liaquat Medical University for training.

He said that the list of doctors to be selected from Karachi and Hyderabad centres should be completed in the next 10 days.
