LONDON, July 3: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB has admitted that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had contacted it to play host to its home series against Australia this October.

The BCB, however, accepted that it was anxiously awaiting the final decision of Pakistani and Australian authorities on the matter.

“Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) contacted us about hosting the series in Bangladesh and we have shown our enthusiasm on the prospect,” said BCB chief Ali Asghar.

Asghar has held initial negotiations with PCB director Munawwar Rana on the issue. The two spoke on the sidelines of the International Cricket Council (ICC) executive board meeting, held in London last week.

Asghar hopes the timing would be ideal and the series would boost the game in the country.

“October is very pleasant and a perfect dry time for cricket in Bangladesh,” he said. “Our people would love to see these two top teams in action in their country.” —PPI
