KARACHI: Man commits suicide

KARACHI, July 3: A man hanged himself in his Soldier Bazaar home on Wednesday.

Police said Badruddin, 55, was found hanging with a ceiling fan in his house in Bano Plaza, Soldier Bazaar. The body was shifted to a hospital for autopsy.

Police said that Badruddin was the father of one of the two girls, who were fraudulently called by a hotel-owner, Syed Nadir Ali and he attempted to insult their honour. One of them called the police at the spot, and the police locked up the suspect with the girls. After having read the news in Urdu eveningers, Badruddin ended his life.

WOUNDED: A policeman was injured in a robbery attempt in Ibrahim Hyderi when he put up resistance to the bandits on Wednesday.

Police said Abdul Hameed, 32, a police constable, posted at Ibrahim Hyderi police station in Investigation Property-1, was riding his motorcycle in civvies, when two bandits intercepted him in Akbar Ali Shah Goth and attempted to loot him of his cash and belongings.

As Hameed put up resistance and pulled out his TT pistol, the bandits overpowered him, snatched his pistol, stabbed him and fled leaving him in a pool of blood. He was later shifted to a hospital where his condition is stated to be out of danger.

A man was shot and wounded at his PIB Colony home when he resisted the bandits on Wednesday morning.

Police said some unknown bandits barged into the house of Allah Bux, 45, and held the family hostage at gunpoint. The bandits started collecting cash, jewellery and valuables when Allah Bux put up resistance to them. The bandits got jittery, shot him, and fled with the loot.
