LAHORE, July 2: The Lahore Racing season 2002-2003 begins with a mediocre card of six events to be decided at the Racecourse Wednesday.
The events comprise lowest divisions of class VII, from division V to division VIII which is considered the lowest division.
The feature event, the Rohri Plate class VII division V has ten acceptors, barring last-minute withdrawals. The half-bred four-year-old filly Lucky Lass, who was beaten in her last outing on June 5, looks good in this event to be contested over the sprinting distance of 800 metres.
Lucky Lass, a progeny of Image Maker out-of- Mushke Hejaz is placed at seven stones 12 pounds (7-12) in the weight scales. She enjoys an edge over her nine rivals but will face some tough competition from bay colt Little Master and bay mare Turn On.
Five-year-old chestnut gelding Time Is Gold seems set to steal the honours in the fifth and supporting event. The way Time Is Gold won on his first try out on June 27, there seems hardly any chance the gelding should not make it two in-a-row. The only minus point against him is that Time Is Gold has bookies connections. He should be followed by the bay colt Malook Star and the red-roan gelding Bhola Jee.
All events will be contested over 800 metres. The first race will start at 2.30 pm.
