KARACHI, July 2: Muhajir Qaumi Movement chief Afaq Ahmed has said his party wanted to see the province of Sindh as an integrated part of Pakistan.

Speaking to party office-bearers from interior of Sindh at Baitul Hamza here on Tuesday, the MQM chairman observed that certain elements, while talking about provincial autonomy, called for rejection of the Constitution of 1973 and demanded for framing of a new constitution, which, he said, was not appropriate.

“Such elements, including the Sindhi nationalists, should know that the 1973 Constitution envisaged provincial autonomy and provided necessary protection to the rights of all the federating units,” he said, adding that the Muhajir had made it a point to struggle for a Sindh that existed and survived within the geographical limits of Pakistan.

The socio-political and economic conditions of Muhajir people in the interior of the province were also reviewed. Certain important decisions were taken regarding reorganization of the MQM in all cities of the province. The October general elections also came under discussion, said a party press release.
