SUKKUR, July 1: More than 100 persons staged a demonstration against Hesco officials in front of the district council here on Monday against the unscheduled load-shedding in Bachal Shah Miani for the last three days.

The demonstration was led by Naib Nazim Deedar Ali Mirani.

The protestors said the Hesco authorities were not only observing five to eight hours power cut daily but also making one phase supply due to which, they said, electrical appliances were not working and many of them had burnt away, causing huge losses.

Due to the daily load-shedding, the people of Bachal Shah Miani and other allied areas are facing hardships and some children have fainted.

Later, the protestors dispersed peacefully.

PRISONER DIES: A 35-year-old prisoner of the central jail, Ghulam Murtuza, died in the Sukkur Civil Hospital on Monday.

The prisoner had been shifted to the hospital in a serious condition two days back.

Sources said that about four months back, the A-Section police arrested Murtuza when he was wandering suspiciously and sent him to the central jail.

According to the police, no one had come for his identification and bail therefore he was sent to the jail where he fell sick and was admitted to the hospital.
