RAHIM YAR KAHN, June 30: Residents of Chak No 48/P have demanded reprobe into the Aab-i-Hayat canal breach.

Former councillor Haji Mushtaq Ahmad and other residents of the village told this correspondent on Sunday that irrigation department’s XEN (Dalis division) held inquiry into the incident according to the wishes of the influential landlords who were responsible for the breach.

They said that only some favourites were called in the office by the XEN. The complainants were neither called nor informed about the inquiry.

They appealed to the Punjab governor and irrigation department secretary to appoint an honest and impartial officer to hold inquiry into the canal breach.
