BNP leader attacked

QUETTA, June 30: Malik Abdul Wali Kakar, acting President Balochistan National Party (Mengal), escaped attempt on his life near Kuchlak on Sunday.

Mr Kakar, along with his nephew, was coming to Quetta from Kuchlak when armed persons, who were lying in ambush, opened indiscriminate fire on them. Both escaped unhurt.

On receiving information, senior police officers reached the scene of assault. A case has been registered and an investigation opened. The BNP has strongly condemned the attack, saying it was the handiwork of government agencies.—PPI
