Semifinalists stretched

KARACHI, Nov 1: Asif Hussain, Khawar Mahmood, Nadir Sohail and Asim Aziz moved into the men’s singles semifinals of the All-Karachi Lions table tennis tournament at the Sindh Sports Board Complex here Wednesday.

Asif recovered to beat Muhammad Khalid 18-21, 22-20, 21-19, 21-19. Khawar Mahmood was taken to full distance by Imran Jamal before winning 21-19, 19-21, 21-12, 12-21, 21-10.

Former champion Nadir Sohail scored straight games 21-12, 21-12, 21-13 over Zulfiqar Ahmed. Asim Aziz defeated Hasan Haider 21-9, 21-8, 21-4.

Sadia Yaseen will meet Sabia Qasier in the women’s singles final after winning their semifinals in four games.

Sadia beat Saima Shamim 21-10, 21-10, 13-21, 17-21, 22-20 and Naureen Tehseen beat Saima Shamim 21-13, 21-15, 17-21, 21-18.—APP
