HARIPUR, June 28: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco), Haripur division, has warned all the public sector departments of the district of snapping their power supply connections by the end of June if they failed to clear their dues amounting to Rs620 million, an official source told Dawn here on Friday.

According to the break-up, the federal government departments like ICI, ministry of finance, railways, PTCL, customs, income tax, postal services, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines and GE — a wing of Pakistan army stationed at Tarbela Dam — owed a sum of Rs16.63 million till the close of last month, while the autonomous bodies under federal government did not pay Rs17.59 million outstanding against them.

The departments of provincial government, including police, courts, education, PHED, agriculture, forest and rural development owe a sum of Rs24.58 million to the Pesco, while Rs3.487 million are outstanding against the local government departments. Among these defaulters, Rs1.687 million are outstanding against the defunct MC of Khalabat Township.

Among the autonomous bodies under the federal government, Ghazi Brotha Power Project, TDCP and NTDC are among the biggest defaulters, while among the provincial government departments the police owe Rs0.6 million, agriculture department Rs2.68 million and PHED Rs21 million.
