BADIN, June 28: A windstorm followed by a brief but heavy downpour on Thursday night broke heat spell in Badin and other towns of the district where frequent power breakdowns have been adding to miseries of the people.

Growers of the district, which is one of the most affected areas by water crisis, were particularly happy with the timely rain.

As soon as rainfall began, power supply to the city was suspended at 8pm on Thursday and it continued till next day on Friday. It was restored after Juma prayers.

Giving the reason for the power breakdown, Wapda officials claimed that main 68000KV wire was snapped near Talhar.
