Inam to begin China visit today

BEIJING, June 27: Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Inamul Haq will visit China at the end of June, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesman said on Thursday.

Mr Haq, whose appointment by President Pervez Musharraf was announced on June 19, will visit China from June 28 to 30, foreign ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao told a news briefing.

“During the visit, both sides will exchange views on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of mutual concern,” Liu said.

Liu declined to say whether Haq would discuss tensions between India and Pakistan during his visit, adding that the agenda had not been finalized. But he reiterated China’s position that both sides should resolve their differences over Kashmir peacefully and resume dialogue as soon as possible.—AFP
