GHAZI, June 26: Supporting the condition of graduation for contesting National and provincial assemblies elections, the provincial president of Pakistan Muslim League (N), Pir Sabir Shah said here that the introduction of educational qualification for a candidate will improve the quality of the parliament.

Mr Shah told Dawn that although various seasoned politicians would stand disqualified from contesting future elections, the decision was in the interest of the country.

He asked the government to stick to its decision and not to revert it on pressure from political parties. He said if a person could not pass a graduation examination what could he do for the masses.

M. Sadaqat adds from  Haripur: Provincial president PML (N) Pir Sabir Shah has categorically said party deserters would not be given tickets for the future general elections.

Speaking to party workers at his residence here, the former NWFP chief minister said all those who withstood the military regime in the difficult times and did not change loyalties would be preferred for party tickets.
