HYDERABAD, June 25: A resident of Seeta Road, Khameeso Chandio, has appealed to the Sindh High Court, governor, police and human rights organizations for protection as some waderas were threatening him with dire consequences.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Monday, Chandio, who has been released after undergoing 13 years in prison, said that the waderas had turned his life miserable. He, however, did not name them.

Revealing his ordeal, Chandio said that his father, Raza Muhammad, and a cousin, Ghulam Sarwar, were murdered in 1982 at the instance of the waderas. He claimed that he was issued threats of dire consequences if he did not withdraw the case against the killers.

He said that he had moved to Punjab and returned in 1988 and started living in Digri, Mirpurkhas.

Fearing a revenge, he said, the waderas implicated him in 30 false cases and he was jailed for 11 years.

After his release in 1999, he added, he lived at Seeta Road but the waderas against hatched a conspiracy and instigated his opponents. In a clash with the opponents, his nephew, Ghulam Abbas Chandio, and one person of the other side were killed.

Chandio said that he was again sent to jail for two years during which eight more people were killed in the affair.

He said that according to the decision of his community, he and his relatives were made to pay fine of Rs700,000 and peace was restored.

The waderas, he said, continued with their conspiracy to implicate him in false cases again.

Chandio claimed that chits were being issued to different people in his name with demands of ‘protection money’. The purpose, he said, was to get him killed in a fake police encounter.

He said that he wanted to live as peaceful citizen and was ready to expose the waderas if an inquiry was held.
