ISLAMABAD, Nov 1: The Kuwait Airways resumed its flight operations in Pakistan that had been suspended following the September 11 attacks in the US, with its first flight taking off from Lahore on Thursday.
This was announced by the airways’ senior manager in Pakistan, Waleed Ahmed Al-Muhanna, at a press conference here on Thursday.
Three flights will be operated in a week initially, one each from Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, Mr Muhanna said and added, full-fledged operations would be launched after normalization of the regional situation.
Prior to the September 11 tragedy, the Kuwait Airways was operating seven flights a week from Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.
The airlines’ manager said a 10 to 15 per cent increase in insurance premium had also forced the airlines to reduce their flight operations by 20 to 30 per cent. —APP
