MIRANSHAH, June 24: Two rockets were fired at a building close to where US forces are believed to be staying in tribal areas bordering Afghanistan but no one was hurt, a government official said on Monday.
Several rockets have been fired in recent months at a school building in Miranshah where a small number of US officials are based, as they help Pakistan hunt the Taliban and Al Qaeda fighters who may have escaped from Afghanistan.
The official said the rockets were fired on Sunday night at a fort that serves as a residential complex for government employees near the US base. Both fell short of their target and did not explode. They were later defused by a bomb disposal squad.
Two more rockets that had not been fired were found nearby and defused, he said.—Reuters
