HYDERABAD, June 24: A shopkeeper of the Cantonment Shopping Centre, Pathan Colony, Pir Mohammed, son of Haji Sher Gul, accused the SHO, Cantonment police station, Rao Nazim, of harassment and appealed to the AIG Police, Hyderabad Region, Abdur Rauf Yousufzai, to protect him against the excesses of the SHO and the ASP Cantonment.
Speaking at a news conference at the Hyderabad press club the other day, he alleged that his servant, Nawab Ali, who was working at his grocery shop, had committed a fraud of Rs700,000 to Rs800,000 some time back and disappeared with the accounts books.
He said Nawab in cooperation with Sub-Inspector Nazim Rao opened a shop at the residence of the sub-inspector on Maulana Mohammed Ali Johar road in Masoom Shah Colony.
He said when he demanded his money from Nawab, the sub-inspector implicated him in a false case and also distorted the facts before the ASP Cantonment.
He said he approached the AIG, Hyderabad Region, Abdur Rauf Yousufzai, who ordered an impartial inquiry and was kind enough to restore justice.
He, however, lamented that the harassment by the police officer had not ended. He feared that there was every likelihood that he might be implicated in false cases.
He said he was not being allowed to meet the AIG.
He appealed to the AIG to come to his rescue again and protect him against the high-handedness of the police officers.
AT ACTIVISTS: Activists of the Awami Tehrik (AT) staged token hunger strike outside the Hyderabad Press Club on Monday to protest against the registration of false cases against the president of the AT, Larkana District, Sartaj Chandio, by the Nazim of Taluka Warah and other party activists by the Matli police.
Talking to newsmen, AT leader, Noor Nabi Rahujo, said that party activists were being implicated in false cases as the AT had launched a movement against the construction of the greater Thal canal.
