KARACHI, Nov 1: The head of Indian fisheries delegation, J.J. Parmar, has urged the fishermen of India and Pakistan not to violate the international sea waters.

He made it clear that every country had a right to protect its coastal resources; therefore, the fishermen on either side must respect the international treaties regarding sea waters and limit their fishing activities in the water zones of their countries.

Speaking at a farewell reception hosted in honour of the seven- member Indian delegation on Wednesday night, Mr Parmar called for developing a better understanding and closer relations between the people of Pakistan and India.

He said NGOs could play a positive role in the promotion of good neighbourly relations between the two countries.

Earlier, the reception was addressed by the Vice-Chairman of the FCS, Haji Shafi Mohammad Jamote, Manager Administration Haji Ghazanfar Ali Boota and MSA deputy director-general Ehsanul Haq and Zafar Iqbal and a representative of Indian fishermen Velgebai Kanjibai Masani.

The Indian delegation will leave for home by air on Saturday evening.
