MUMBAI, Nov 1: Indian film stars Salman Khan and Chunkey Pandey on Thursday appeared in a Mumbai court as witnesses in the long-running case relating to the 1997 murder of film producer Gulshan Kumar.

Pandey expressed ignorance of any information related to Kumar’s murder, while Khan was not even examined by the special public prosecutor Ujwal Nikam or the defence lawyer Majid Memon.

The judge M.L. Tahiliani has scheduled the next hearing of the case for November 9.

Kumar, a well known film producer was murdered in broad daylight, allegedly by underworld gangster Abu Salem at the behest of music director Nadeem Saifee.

Both Khan and Pandey have already deposed in front of the police about certain information on Salem, who was recently detained by police in the United Arab Emirates, but then released. —AFP
