HYDERABAD, June 22: The convener of the City Council, Abdul Qadeer Naghar, has issued directives for strict action against the shopkeepers involved in the sale of substandard edible oil.
He move followed a resolution tabled by a councillor, Ms Rana Siddiqui, during the council’s session here on Thursday.
Other resolutions, presented by councillors, Abdul Hameed, Usman Abbasi and Abdul Waheed Ajmeri, pertaining to the delay in the terminal project and deteriorating standard of education in government schools were also discussed in detail.
The council resolved that the education department should ensure a high standard of education to maintain parity between the government and private schools.
HUNGER STRIKE: About two dozen activists of the PPP, SPSF and SPY (SB) observed a token hunger strike outside the press club here on Friday against the delay in the proceeding of Murtaza Bhutto murder case.
Talking to newsmen on the occasion, Zahid Jokhio and others said that the principal accused in the case, Asif Zardari, was being provided VIP treatment in the jail and police officers involved in the case, Shoaib Suddle and others, had been promoted.
