KARACHI, Jan 28 An additional district and sessions court (south) adjourned the hearing of TV producer Afreen Baig`s murder case till Feb 7.

The judge, Mohammad Sultan Awan, partly heard the final arguments of the special public prosecutor on Wednesday.

Afreen Baig, a TV actor and producer, was killed at her Defence residence in October 2004 allegedly by her driver, Mohammad Bux Umrani, and his wife, Zahida. Her husband, Farooq Mengal, is alleged to have masterminded the murder. The driver of the victim and his wife, who was a maid at Mengal`s house, are co-accused in the case. The court declared Zahida absconder in the case.

A case (FIR 163/2005) was registered under Sections 302, 392, 337-f and 109/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code at Clifton police station.

The prosecutor will resume his remaining arguments at the next hearing.

Meanwhile, the judge of a district and sessions (south) court, Fahim Ahmed Siddiqui, partly heard arguments of the special public prosecutor on bail applications of three detained forex dealers and adjourned the case hearing till Jan 30.

Abdul Munaf Kalia, his brother, Hanif Kalia, and Javed Khanani were arrested on charges of illegally transferring billions of dollars abroad.

The suspects, through counsel moved the bail applications in the court. Their counsel completed arguments on the pervious hearing.

A case (83/2008) was registered against the suspect under Sections 5, 8, 22 and 23 of the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act, 1947 read with 7, 8 and 20 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Ordinance, 2007 and 409, 420, 467, 471, 477-A/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code at the FIA crime circle branch, Karachi.
