ROME, June 20: Italy’s national broadcaster RAI is considering legal action for financial damages against world football body FIFA, blaming dubious refeering for Italy’s early exit from the World Cup.

The move is the latest angry broadside from Italy towards FIFA after its highly-fancied team was knocked out of the competition by joint hosts South Korea in a match controversial for its dubious refereeing decisions.

“The legal affairs department of RAI has been tasked with studying... the possibility of a legal action against FIFA for reimbursement for damages sustained by the company following the elimination of the Italian team from the current World Cup, as a consequence of the unanimous recognition of obvious refereeing errors.”
