Established on December 30, 1985, Japanese Garden/Park is located at the foothills of Margallah Hills, next to Islamabad Zoo. It was a gift from Japan for Pakistani children, hence named Japanese Park. Although there aren`t any signs saying Japanese Garden, there is a sign mentioning Play Land Children`s parks near it.

This park is a beautiful one, with an excellent play area including swings, monkey bars, slides, etc. that delight children to no end! Japanese Park has beautiful and huge lush green lawns along with evenly terraced gardens and properly primed bushes and trees! It`s one of those few places left now where you can go and enjoy the nature.
One can also view Daman-e-Koh above the park since it`s actually situated on the road back from there. Huge mountains and hills covered with green grass and bushes are also visible from the park from almost all sides. If one visits this place during spring, one can see fresh flowers in different colours and enjoy nature even more!

Children are attracted to the different slides, swing bridge, swing rope, etc. Not only is this park popular among children, but those who love to exercise know it very well too; the reason being that it has a lot of exercise facilities too! Also, Japanese park is a perfect picnic spot and families can come here and have picnics at anytime and enjoy themselves. Furthermore, swings at the Japanese Park are not like those of other parks. In fact, they are very interesting and unique type of swings that are probably only found at the Japanese Park. Lately, electronic machine swings have been added, which work with coins that you purchase making it even more fun for kids and children to go. However, children often face disappointment when they can`t approach these facilities as the swings and slides are out of their reach due to their height or when they are damaged or broken. CDA has been working on this and trying to ensure that maintenance is done properly. Regardless of this Japanese Park remains a favourite among children, which speaks a lot about how good this place is and how much children in Islamabad like it.

One thing I particularly like about Japanese Park is that only children accompanied by their parents are allowed, after paying a nominal fee. This makes the crowd over there good. It becomes a family place to go, and the nominal fee makes sure poor and rich both can access this entertainment, which is something really good and I really appreciate it.

Islamabad has a lot of parks, at least one and nearly two in every sector! However, Japanese Park stands out from all the parks in Islamabad for all the above-mentioned reasons. So if you haven`t visited this place before, make sure you do whenever you come to Islamabad. For children residing in Islamabad I am pretty sure they have been coming here quite frequently already!
