Bus stand to be reshifted

GUJRAT, June 19: The district administration will shift the municipal bus and wagon stand to its previous site on the orders of the district council.

Dawn learnt on Wednesday District Coordination Officer Agha Nadeem had formed a committee to conduct survey on private bus stands to ascertain facilities to the commuters. The committee consisted of DO (roads), DO (buildings), RTA secretary and traffic DSP.

Sources said the Punjab governor had also sought a report from the district administration after receiving applications by transporters, assuring all the facilities to the passengers.

Gujrat Transporters’ Association acting Nazim was also interested in shifting of these stands to the private sites, the sources claimed.

A traffic police official told this correspondent that a private bus stand should have following requirements and facilities. (1) The area of the stand should be at least three kanals. (2) Separate in and out ways for vehicles. (3) Water coolers. (4) Separate gents and ladies waiting rooms. (5) Toilets. (6) Rest room for drivers. (7) Watchmen. (9) Ticket system. (10) Mosque. (11) Fire extinguisher. (12) First-aid facility. (13) D-class license and at least eight route permits. (14) At least 100 vehicles.
