KARACHI, June 17: The possibility of suicide bombing in Friday’s car bomb explosion, near the US Consulate in Karachi, has been ruled out by the police.

However, the Federal Bureau of Investigation is carrying out technical analysis after they collected evidence from the scene of Friday’s car bomb blast to ascertain as to which vehicle was the carrier of explosive.

At a press conference on Monday, the Inspector-General of Sindh Police, Syed Kamal Shah, said although the police did not find any evidence, which could substantiate the possibility of suicide bombing, the FBI agents were working on this aspect by collecting all available evidence.

He said the Toyota Corolla car belonging to a driving school was blown up into 46 pieces and a Suzuki Hi-Roof in 40 pieces. The bomb was planted in one of these two vehicles, and the FBI team was trying to determine the carrier of the explosive.
