SUKKUR, June 17: The siege of Dera Bugti by the law enforcement forces continued on Monday as the stock of food and medicines in the town of Balochistan almost exhausted, according to reports reaching here.
The telephones lines have been cut off and vehicular traffic and other forms of communication have also been suspended hence the town has virtually become a no-go area.
The authorities are demanding of the town people to hand over the culprits of the blast incident, after which they will lift the siege of the area.
The chieftain of the Bugti tribe and chairman of the Jamhoori Watan Party, Nawab Akber Bugti has made it clear to the authorities that he does not have the culprits in his custody as they are suspecting him of giving them shelter.
Dera Bugti, a gas exploration town, has been the site of attacks on gas pipelines and recently the miscreants have blasted a pipeline which, according to the government officials, has caused a loss of some 30 million rupees.
Dera Bugti town is known for Sui gas installations, which are of vital importance for the country.
CRYSTAL METERS: Ten members of the Taluka Council Sukkur in an urgent meeting on Monday expressed deep concern over the attitude of Hesco officials and demanded the Sindh governor to take notice of thousands of complaints against the white crystal meters which were 40 per cent faster.
The meeting was chaired by Syeda Fauzia, member of the Taluka Council, Sukkur.
According to the Taluka Council members each and every official of Wapda knew about the crystal meters being too fast and had been intentionally imported to cover up the power thefts.
