KARACHI, Dec 21 Top seed Ali Mehdi who won the national U-19 title last year, cruised into the men`s singles second round by clearing the first hurdle in the ongoing Sindh Open badminton championship at the PSB Coaching Centre on Sunday.

Serving in KPT, Mehdi inflicted a 21-9, 21-12 victory over Shabbir in the opener.

Second seed Harrison also joined him in the next round by getting the better of Zulfiqar 21-3, 21-5.

Similarly, top seed Monisha Kotia who was twice crowned national U-16 champion, eased into the women`s singles next stage disposing off Saba Mughal 21-6, 21-9.
