LAHORE, June 16: Punjab Law Minister Rana Ijaz said on Sunday the federal government had earmarked Rs1,145.67 million for human rights, justice and law under the public sector programme in the budget.
Talking to a delegation of the International Human Rights Commission here, the minister said the amount included a foreign aid component of Rs894.71 million.
He said the Punjab government had made a plan to provide free vocational training to young and juvenile prisoners with the technical assistance of TEVTA. It would spend Rs14.148 million on the project in the first phase.
The minister hoped that all the provinces would soon take steps to implement the Juvenile Justice System Ordinance, 2000, under which separate juvenile courts would be established at the sessions level, deciding each case in a maximum four-month time.
