HYDERABAD: Robbery bid foiled

HYDERABAD, June 14: City police foiled a robbery when it was in progress at a house in Khokhar Mohallah here on Friday. One of the two robbers was arrested.

The robbers, later identified as Qurban Ansari and Asim Malik, barged into the house of Shafat Hussain Jafri and held the inmates hostage but his wife, Qudsia, somehow managed to dial ‘15’ and inform the police control about the intrusion. One of the robbers picked up a knife and attacked her causing her injuries.

In the meantime, police arrived at the house and ordered the robbers to surrender. Qurban Ansar laid down his pistol while Asim Malik made his escape good.

The injured woman was taken the local civil hospital.
