KARACHI, Oct 31: The British Council has offered to refund tuition fees to its teaching centre students in Karachi and Lahore.

The announcement to this effect comes in the wake of suspension of classes following the closure of British Council offices across Pakistan last month, says a statement issued here on Wednesday.

‘As students of our English language courses will know, we had no alternative but to suspend classes following the tragic events of 11 september’, said Peter Ellwood, Director Pakistan, British Council.

‘We intend to stand our commitment to offer our customers first class language tuition, but we shall also act in the way they would expect from the British Council. Any student enrolled on one of those classes and wishing an immediate full refund is welcome to contact us on teaching_bckarachi@hotmail.com. We shall make the necessary arrangements as soon as possible’, the statement added.

Peter Ellwood further stated that the British Council intends to resume classes as soon as it can after Ramazan. Students who wish to resume their studies at that point will be given priority and are welcome to contact our registrar now on teaching_bckarachi@hotmail.com, he added.

However, the students who prefer to resume their tuition rather than claim a refund will be eligible for one full term of teaching at no additional cost, he further stated.—APP
