KARACHI, Oct 31: A large number of files, belonging to different departments of the city government, were found dumped near the staircases of an annexe building of the government’s head office.

The files, which were lying under the open sky, pertained to the directives of provincial ombudsman and other official records relating to theft, kidnapping and plot cases, etc.

When some newsmen brought the issue to the notice of the city government’s district officer (general administration), Col Ehtesham, he immediately rushed to the place to see the files.

Expressing his ignorance over the dumping of the files near the staircase of the annexe building, he said that it was really shocking that the files were lying there in such a mess.

When he called the city government’s security officials to know who had dumped the files, they too expressed their ignorance.

The district officer, however, asked the security officials to keep an eye on those files and also put a tarpaulin on them so that they are not spoiled in the wake of rains or due to sunlight.

He assured the people, who had gathered to see the heaps of the files, that he would conduct a probe into the matter on Thursday.

The city government’s annexe building, where the files were found dumped under the staircases, houses the defunct KMC’s Kutchi Abadis records room, inquiry office and its court.
