ISLAMABAD, June, 12: In reply to a question regarding China’s position on the current tensions in South Asia, the foreign office spokesman said in a statement that China had always played a constructive role in the promotion and maintenance of peace in South Asia, and the world at large.

As for the tense situation created by India, China has consistently supported the de-escalation of tension and resumption of Pakistan-India dialogue to address all outstanding issues including the Kashmir dispute.

The spokesman further added that, as an influential world power and as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China continued to play a very positive role for defusing tensions in the region.
