KARACHI, June 12: A woman customer of Pakistan Telecommunication Company received over a hundred calls from different people in a couple of days, as the telephone number allotted to her by the Gulshan-e-Iqbal telephone exchange on Monday was previously in the use of the police station of the area.

In an application submitted to the Divisional Engineer, Gulshan Exchange, on Wednesday, Zeenat Jehan, resident of flat No: C-2, Royal Avenue, SB Block-13-C, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, stated that she had been allotted a new telephone connection number 4991075 on June 10.

She came to know that this number was previously in the use of the Gulshan-i-Iqbal police station as during the last two days she received over a hundred phone calls from different people asking for duty officers etc came. These calls continued to come even late at night causing mental agony to her and the children.

The lady requested the DE to help her get rid of this number and allot some other number so that she and her family could live with peace of mind. The officials concerned of the Gulshan Exchange however did not respond properly to the application and told Zubair Yaseen, who had submitted the application, that it would take a few days to change the number.

Mr Yaseen told PPI in the evening that no action had so far been taken and they were still receiving phone calls for the police station.
