LAHORE, June 11: All-Pakistan Federation of Trade Unions secretary-general Khurshid Ahmad was re-elected as member of the ILO’s governing body in Geneva on Tuesday.
He has been getting elected to this position for the past many years from workers’ group of the organization.
According to a press release, Khurshid Ahmad secured 109 votes out of 120 votes cast in the election. The ILO’s tripartite governing body consists of 14 members each from workers and employers’ groups and 28 representing the governments.
The APFTU secretary-general was also elected as an office-bearer of the standing order committee.
The Chinese delegate was voted as member of the governing body for the first time. He secured 67 votes. — Reporter
