Police kill villager

HARIPUR, June 11: A man was shot dead by the police when the villagers attacked the police force in village Chajaka, some 35km from here across the Tarbela lake on Monday evening.

An ASI and two constables also sustained injuries.

Raja Saeed in charge of police post Gandaf raided the house of one Khurshid in village Chajaka Kalinjar with two constables Riasat, Fareed and two civilian Nazara and Rafaqat, some two weeks back and allegedly took Rs 10,000 as bribe from them on the pretext of their involvement in a robbery case.

When the aggrieved villager who rear his family on cutting and selling of firewood, when complained to Tehsil Naib Nazim, the infuriated ASI again raided his house on Monday night with the same persons but when the inmates started screaming for help the villagers who mistook them as bandits, came out and started pelting stones on them. The frustrated police party opened fire on the villagers killing Khurshid son of Zamarud on the spot.
