Zahid shines

KARACHI, June 10: Five-goal Zahid Iqbal helped National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) defeat Pakistan Customs 8-4 to lift the All-Pakistan Gen Musa Khan hockey tournament title at Gen Musa Stadium, Quetta.

According to information available Monday, the bankers led the first half 3-1.

Zahid opened the NBP account with two quick goals (7th and 10th minutes). Customs Mohammad Ali reduced the margin in the 27th minute, while NBP’s Jibran Siddiqi made it 3-1 six minutes before half time.

NBP started the second period with goals from Zahid (37th, 46th minutes) and Asif Ahmad (44th minute). Shabbir Ahmad and Naeem Khan of Customs cut the deficit 6-3 in the 52nd and 58th minute.

Zahid slammed his fifth in 62nd minute, while Asif completed the tally with a 64th-minute goal. Naeem got the fourth for Customs two minutes later.
