LAHORE, June 9: Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood inaugurated the largest closed circuit video security monitoring system in the city at the fruit and vegetable markets here on Sunday.
The security system comprising 14 video cameras and monitors has been installed by the traders of the two markets on self-help basis. Seven cameras have been installed in each market which can record the movement of every person entering and leaving the market.
The Nazim lauded the sense of responsibility and spirit of cooperation of the traders which had resulted in the installation of the security system.
He said traders of other markets could also install similar system for their security.
Mian Amer announced remodelling of the market drain at a cost of Rs5.2 million during the next financial year.
Lahore Market Committee chairman Mian Talat Ahmad announced the construction of a boundary wall around the market at a cost of Rs1.5 million next year for further improvement in security arrangements.
He said over Rs3 million had already been spent on improvement of roads.
PECO ROAD: The Nazim also inaugurated the reconstruction of one-kilometre stretch of PECO Road, Badami Bagh, at a cost of Rs38 million.
Iron bars worth Rs8 million will be used with reinforced cement concrete to prevent its disintegration due to flooding. A covered drain will also be built on both sides of the road.
