Published June 9, 2002

KARACHI, June 8: A young man died when he was run over by a speeding bus on Lilly bridge, near Cantt railway station, on Saturday.

The police said the bus of route 1-D (JE-1814) was travelling on the bridge in the morning when it ran over the pavement of the bridge where a man was asleep, killing him on the spot. The bus also hit the railing of the bridge but stopped short of falling down.

The dead was shifted to a hospital where he was identified as Haider, 28, hailing from Multan. He might have come to the city to seek job, the police added.

The police impounded the bus but failed to arrest its driver.
