KARACHI, June 7: The provincial local government minister, Dewan Mohammed Yousuf Farooqui, on Friday, directed the local government secretary to examine the encroachment of a public park in New Karachi and take action as per law.
He issued the order on an application moved by the residents who drew the minister’s attention towards the non-enforcement of ban placed on ceremonies, private functions, etc, in parks and playgrounds.
The residents had complained about the misuse of KMC parks and playgrounds by various organizations.
The minister directed the local government secretary to take necessary action under the existing rules and to enforce general ban placed on private functions or ceremonies, specially in parks.
Issuing a general directive to all concerned, including Town Municipal Officers and the Parks Department of the City Government, Dewan Yousuf also called for proper maintenance of parks, as well as the development of new ones.
He also directed the officials to remain vigilant about attempts for encroach upon parks and other amenity plots, and to take immediate action against encroachers and land-grabbers.
KPP SCHEMES: Hundred per cent work of the 18 development schemes under the Khushhal Pakistan Program Phase-II has been completed in district Dadu.
The total cost of the 18 projects was Rs50.587 million, of which Rs48.121 million were released to complete the schemes. As many as 665 persons were employed, while around 800,000 people are likely to benefit from these schemes.
This information was given to Dewan Muhammad Yousuf Farooqui, provincial minister for local government, housing and town planing by the District Coordination Officer, Dadu.
The schemes completed include repair and renovation of road from Indus Highway to Dargah Yar Muhammad Kalhoro, construction of road from Indus Highway to the new bus terminal at Sehwan, repair of road from Indus Highway at Bareecha bus stand to village Duabo, repair of road from Dadu to the cattle farm near village Aminani, seven schemes of rehabilitation of water supply system at Manchhar Band, Sikandarabad, Kotri, Thana Bula Khan, Dadu, Phulji Station, Johi and Mehar, rehabilitation of urban drainage scheme in Johi, open surface drains in Kotri and other schemes.
The minister directed that development schemes under KPP phase-III should also
be completed in stipulated time as the fourth phase of this development programme is going to begin soon and the funds for the new phase would be allocated only on the basis of the current progress.
