KARACHI, June 7: The transition officer for the Karachi Building Control Authority and former DG KDA, Brig Zaheer Qadri, on Thursday directed all the controllers of the KBCA to ensure immediate demolition of all illegal constructions.

Presiding over a meeting he asked all the circle controllers to personally visit their respective areas and also ensure that their subordinate officers also went to their jurisdictions, to chalk out a formal action plan against illegal constructions after completing their survey.

“The action taken should be so effective as to be seen and felt by everyone”, he said, terming the action taken by the controllers as unsatisfactory and a failure.

Meanwhile the KBCA demolished four buildings being constructed illegally in Khadda, Lyari, Federal B. Area and Garden East.

According to the KBCA, its team demolished second and fourth floors of a building on plot No 1594, Khadda. Since, the third floor was locked, the demolition action could not be taken.

In another action in the area, the demolition team dismantled the columns and shuttering of the fifth floor of a building on plot No 1441.

In Federal B. Area, the KBCA completely demolished the illegally constructed third floor of a building on plot No R-104, Azizabad.

In Garden East, it pulled down the roof and slabs of the building on plot No 232/4, GRE as they were being constructed in violation of open space.—APP
