LAHORE, Feb 8 Famous actress of yesteryear Sauran Lata died in her Muslim Town residence here on Friday. She was 81.

She leaves behind two sons and a daughter. Lata had been ill for many years.

Born on Dec 20, 1924, she had interest in music and drama right from her childhood.

She did her senior Cambridge from Delhi and then got admission to the Lukhnow Institute of Music and Art.

Her famous films are Awaz, Tasweer, Ishara, Ratan, Naukar and Wamiq Azra. She got married to actor Nazir.

After partition, the couple produced films Ishq Punjab and Sachaiee in Pakistan.

She acted with Illyas Kashmiri and Santosh. Lata left film industry in the mid 60s.

She was laid to rest at the Muslim Town graveyard.
